India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, reiterated on Tuesday that Jammu and Kashmir will always remain an integral part of India, strongly condemning Pakistan’s ongoing misinformation campaigns.

Harish was responding to comments made by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who raised the issue of Kashmir during a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session. While speaking at the Open Debate on Practicing Multilateralism, Reforming, and Improving Global Governance, Harish firmly stated, “I would like to reaffirm that the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is, and will always be, an integral and inalienable part of India.”

He condemned Pakistan’s spreading of false narratives, stressing that such misinformation does not change the reality on the ground. Harish pointed out that the people of Jammu and Kashmir exercised their democratic right by voting in large numbers during last year’s legislative assembly elections, making their choice clear. “Democracy in Jammu and Kashmir is vibrant and strong, unlike in Pakistan,” he added.

The Indian envoy also called out the irony of Pakistan’s self-declared leadership in the fight against terrorism, given its role as a “global epicentre” of terrorism. Harish reminded the international community that India has long been a victim of terrorism orchestrated by Pakistan.

“Pakistan is a global epicentre of terrorism. It is a supreme irony when Pakistan claims to be at the forefront of the fight against terrorism,” Harish said. He emphasized that terrorism, in any form or for any reason, is unjustifiable, and the UN should not differentiate between “good” and “bad” terrorists. “No political grievance can justify terrorism,” he asserted.
